On approach to the vehicle the examiner will request the applicant to conduct a pre-trip inspection prior to entering the vehicle. In the event of there being a minor defect, the applicant may be allowed the oppurtunity to rectify it.
- Inspect under vehicle on approach for obvious leaks, obsrutctions, etc.
- Unlock all doors
- Inspect vehicle for possible damage, preferably from top tp bottom, left to right in an anit-clockwise direction.
- Check right-hand exterior mirror for damage, cleanliness and stability (if fitted).
- Check right-hand portion of windscreen for damage and cleanliness.
- Check right wipreblade for wear, stability and cleanliness and leave in extended position if possible
- Check right-hand fron wheel: tyre tread for wear and damage, sidewall damage, inflation, valve cap, oil, grease leaks and wheel nuts (if no hub cap is fitted). Visual inspection only.
- Check right hand lenses and reflector for damage, cleanliness and stability.
- Check fornt of vehicle for damage and security of bonnet or boot, grill and bumper.
- Mention that oil, water, brake fluid and fanbelt should be checked.
