Exterior K53 Pre-trip Inspection

On approach to the vehicle the examiner will request the applicant to conduct a pre-trip inspection prior to entering the vehicle. In the event of there being a minor defect, the applicant may be allowed the oppurtunity to rectify it.

  1. Inspect under vehicle on approach for obvious leaks, obsrutctions, etc.
  2. Unlock all doors
  3. Inspect vehicle for possible damage, preferably from top tp bottom, left to right in an anit-clockwise direction.
  4. Check right-hand exterior mirror for damage, cleanliness and stability (if fitted).
  5. Check right-hand portion of windscreen for damage and cleanliness.
  6. Check right wipreblade for wear, stability and cleanliness and leave in extended position if possible
  7. Check right-hand fron wheel: tyre tread for wear and damage, sidewall damage, inflation, valve cap, oil, grease leaks and wheel nuts (if no hub cap is fitted). Visual inspection only.
  8. Check right hand lenses and reflector for damage, cleanliness and stability.
  9. Check fornt of vehicle for damage and security of bonnet or boot, grill and bumper.
  10. Mention that oil, water, brake fluid and fanbelt should be checked.

Interior K53 Pre-trip inspection

The Interior Pre-trip inspection follows the exterior pre-trip inspection.

  1. Check that all doors are properly closed as applicable.
  2. Ensure (from drivers seat) that parking brake is appliead and that the gear lever is in neutral position.
  3. Check for obstructions
  4. Check for emergency warning signs, where applicable.
  5. Check seat adjsutment for correct drivign position.

The purpose of Test

This is a practical test to determine the ability of light motor vehicle drivers. The Test consists of three sperate parts, namely a pre-trip inspectionm a yard test and a road test, jointly mesuring proficiency of a vehicle driver regarding his/her handling of the vehicle, obedience of traffic rules, and coping woth traffic problems in the practical driving situation.
