System of Vehicle Control

  • Search (for hazards) searhc for anything which could cause you to change speed or direction
  • Identify (type ofd hazard) ask the question: Is it stationary or a moving hazard and how will it affect my speed, direction or both?
  • Predict (how one will be influenced by it). Once the hazard has been identified, it is necessary to predict how it could affect one. How can your actions towards the hazard affect other road users?
  • Decide (what action to take). Depending on your prediction, you must now decide how to react to the situation. Continually strice to create as much clear space as possible by adjusting your speed and direction so you will have more time and space to react to hazards.

The following actions should be considered in sequence: Mirror, blindspot check, signal, again mirror check, brake, appropriate gear selection, again check, steer, acceleration.
